The Seiko 6200 manual movement was made from 1960 until 1969, it did not start its production life as such however but as the 394/395/400.
The 6200 family was a movement for high-end Seiko watches, based on the 6100 family it ran at 18,000 A/h, rather than 21,600 or 36,000, which is not to its detriment at all as in fact it was the first 62GS Grand Seiko movement available, with automatic winding added.
Calibre 6200 was used in the Grand Seiko 62GS line. Only the Hi-Beat 6100 movement beginning in 1968 could replace it after the 62GS was retired in 1969.
Still, before all that evolution this particular Seiko Skyliner was mid-range back in the 60s, just below the King and the Grand. Like many Seikos of that time it is conservatively styled but already sized up to 36mm, meaning that this 50 year old watch is very wearable today.
There were quite a few variants. some (like this one) finished to a very high degree, easily competing with the early GS, which indicates the success and the value of this robust workhorse movement to Seiko.
